Position: Managing Director

I founded CED Accountancy Services Limited in 1999 having decided that the larger firms of Chartered Accountants I had both trained with, and worked in, for the previous fifteen years, had lost sight of the real challenges faced by start up business' and growing Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME's). Initially working from home, I soon learned that setting up a new business from scratch is not something which is done without sleepless nights; I therefore empathise with anyone starting up their own business.

As founder, I advise on all business issues, generally getting involved in more complex matters, and in particular in dealing with challenges in business, whether as a result of growth, management change, or in recent years the consequence of changes in the global market place. I tend to see the services we offer as "tax minimisation and wealth maximisation services" for our clients; having said this, we generally achieve such objectives by using simple things that work rather than getting involved in complex tax schemes which can often lead to difficulties at a later stage. I personally encourage all staff members to work closely with clients to maximise returns on all business decisions, whether it is simply buying a van on HP, or investing in a purpose built new factory/office. I am heavily involved in the local amateur sports scene, having played most sports over the years; more of a keen enthusiast than a talented sportsman. Travelling is a keen hobby now with my wife and young family.

Position: Director

Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with a local practice and working as an accountant in industry reporting to overseas parent companies has enabled a perspective of many of the issues that businesses face in addition to accounting and tax.

I joined CED in February 2007 to assist with the development of our firm and our continuing success resulted in an appointment as a director in 2012.

I specialise in assisting small businesses. In particular those businesses with up to 10 employees require a varied degree of expertise in order to transition to a business that potentially employs 50 employees.

Success in my professional role is seeing a business client expand its headcount or successfully raising finance to assist expansion into new markets or products.

Productivity is key for our business and key for our clients businesses. Therefore in any initial discussions we have, an important area is the degree to which IT systems can assist you produce and monitor financial information quickly and communicate that data to your accountant. Therefore a discussion about the cloud based accounting systems may be of interest to you. There is a powerful advantage if accountant and client can share data online in real time.

Communication is key, this firm is committed to regular updates and personal conversations whether that is face to face, by telephone, by email or via your own dedicated client zone on this website.

I am a committed networker, and attend local networking groups in Northampton on a regular basis. I also support a local school with their Young Enterprise programme in my role as a volunteer Business Adviser.

My free time is spent with my musically gifted family and I also enjoy listening to a wide range of music. I enjoy cycling, running, the occasional game of golf, and watching most sports particularly cricket and football. I look forward to hearing about your business.

I joined CED in May 2008 following four years of training at another local firm. My move to CED enabled me to further my training and I have since qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant.

In training at CED I was able to gain a wealth of experience in all of the services the firm provides, which now enables me to assist and advise clients through many of the challenges of being in business.

Although I am involved in all of the day-to-day services CED provides, I specialise in Research and Development Tax Relief claims, bookkeeping software selection and customisation and bespoke spread sheet design.

I have been a keen musician since a very young age and most of my spare time is spent rehearsing and performing with a variety of different bands and ensembles on various different instruments. I also teach music at one of the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) Saturday morning centres. I have also played league table tennis for many years and am an avid Formula 1 fan.

I joined CED Accountancy Services Limited in July 2008. Having just completed my A-levels, I was the first apprentice that the Company had taken on. Since joining the firm, I have gained experience in Audit and Accounts preparation and have recently finished all of my ACCA exams.

My specialty is assisting individuals with their tax affairs, whether that be tax planning and/or help completing their Personal Tax Returns each year. Recently I have started to take an interest in probate issues and as a result prepare and submit Estate and Trust Tax Returns.

In my spare time, I play rugby for Buckingham Ladies (of which I was Captain for a couple of years) and over the last couple of seasons have been selected for the East Midlands County rugby team. I also like to travel and have been lucky enough to see some fantastic sights.

I have come a very long way since starting CEDAS in the summer of 2010 as an A-level school leaver, not only with the qualifications I have achieved (AAT and ACCA), but also in terms of acquiring valuable knowledge that can only be gained through experience. As a small accountancy practice, we all have to learn the different areas of accountancy and taxation. This is a benefit to our clients as they only need to have one contact to assist them with all of their accountancy needs.

Most of my time, involves preparing accounts for Ltd companies, this includes but is certainly not limited to dealing with the companies and directors tax affairs. I am also the audit manager on most of the audits we complete for our larger clients.

In my free time I really enjoy travelling and site seeing, unfortunately as this is impractical every day, most of my time is spent with friends and family. That was true, up until recently when I discovered gardening. Now I am a home owner, gardening has started to become a great hobby of mine, I am still very much learning at the minute but I enjoy it none the less.
